Mart\u00ednez P\u00e9rez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preferences elicited with matching and choice usually diverge (as characterised\u00a0by preference reversals), violating a basic rationality requirement, namely, \u00a0procedure invariance. <!--more-->We report the results of an experiment that shows that\u00a0preference reversals between matching (Standard Gamble in our case) and<br \/>\nchoice are reduced when the matching task is conducted using nontransparent\u00a0methods. Our results suggest that techniques based on nontransparent methods\u00a0are less influenced by biases (i.e., compatibility effects) than transparent\u00a0methods. We also observe that imprecision of preferences influences the degree<br \/>\nof preference reversals.
